In today's weather forecast we have a fine day ahead apart from morning and evening cloud with light northerlies.

It's a one-clothing layer day today with a high of 23 and an overnight low of 15 degrees.

Low tide is at 8.40am and high tide is at 2.50pm. Sea temperature is 19 degrees.

The sea swell is increasing throughout the day to 1m, with king tides expected over the next few days.

Sunset tonight is at 8.20pm.

If you're going fishing today the best fish bite time is between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

This day in NZ history in 1890 New Zealand held its first 'one man one vote' election. New Zealand's electoral law had been changed so that no one could vote in more than one general electoral district.

This ended the long-standing practice of ‘plural voting' by those who owned property in more than one electorate.

In world history on this day in 1909 George Taylor made the first manned glider flight in Australia in a glider that he designed himself.

Today is the birthday of Walt Disney, born in 1901.

Walt Disney once said "We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths".

Is SH2, between Katikati and Tauranga, a dangerous stretch of road?

Yes, there are too many cars on it and it’s not designed to handle that sort of traffic volume.
No, people just need to slow down and pay attention to their driving.
