Water rescue a timely reminder

Two girls who got into trouble in the water near Omanu have been rescued.

Police were called to reports of two girls in trouble in the water near the Omanu Surf Club just before 5pm.

A police spokesperson says the two were rescued and were not injured. 

“They were, however, transported to ED.”

The overnight rescue is being used as a timely reminder for people to take care while swimming at local beaches this summer.
