The cause of a scrub fire that spread across a 2500m2 area in Omanawa yesterday has not yet been established.
Several fire engines and tankers were called to the fire at a rural property on Peers Road at around 2pm on Wednesday.
A fire service spokesperson says although the blaze was significant, such fires are not unusual in summer.
'Without being too blasé, it's par for the course,” he says.
The fire was extinguished by 3.55pm.
No injuries or damage to property was reported.
