Nesting dotterels and today's weather

This morning we are filming from Mount Main beach, where a pair of dotterels are nesting.

In today's weather forecast we are expecting a mainly fine day with a chance of a shower until evening. Mild southeasterly breeze during the day.

It's a one-clothing layer day today with a high of 25 and an overnight low of 13 degrees.

Low tide is at 10.30am and high tide is at 4.40pm. Sea temperature is 21 degrees. There's an average sea swell of 1m. Sunset tonight is at 8.28pm.

If you're going fishing today the best fish bite times are between 9am and 11am, and between 9pm and 11pm.

This day in NZ history in 1843 the first Auckland A and P Show was held. The Agricultural and Pastoral show demonstrated excellence in agriculture and animal husbandry. These shows became an annual event in communities throughout New Zealand.

Today is the birthday of Michel de Nostredame, a French astrologer and physician. Born in 1503, Nostradamus, as he is known, said "...You will live in my heart…I will still remember even though we are apart. I will feel you there for me, as I walk the road of life you help me fight for what is right.."
