Looking for lost crutches

They walk out the door and many of them never return, the crutches and walking frames Tauranga Hospital provides to patients on their way home.

As the year comes to an end Tauranga hospital's physiotherapy team is pleading for people to return the lost mobility aids and rehabilitation equipment.

'As the year comes to an end please assist us by clearing out your cupboards and returning any equipment no longer used,” says Tauranga Hospital Physiotherapy Team Leader Gary McNicholl.

'Crutches and walking frames are the most common items not to be returned but over-toilet frames and wheelchairs are also high on the list.

'The loss of the equipment, loaned out to people to aid their recovery, could have health implications for other patients,” says Gary.

Equipment can be left in the ‘return area' at Tauranga Hospital's front reception or at the Physiotherapy Department.

Surely the hospital has a record of who loaned these devices out to. Ask them to return them and if no action, send them the replacement cost. It's tax payer's money afterall that finances the hospital.
