Tree death witnesses sought

Rotorua police are seeking witnesses to a tree falling on a woman's car in Rotorua last Friday, which killed the driver, 56 year woman Trisha Butterworth.

The accident happened about 10.45am on January 6 at the intersection of Amohia and Arawa Streets.

The accident happened during high winds associated with last Friday's storm. The tree was a 150 year old oak that there had been earlier concerns about.

Rotorua Police are continuing to conduct enquiries on behalf of the coroner in relation to Trisha Butterworth's death.

As part of the investigation, Police are asking that anyone who was in the area at the time or was a witness to the event, contact Police on 07 348 0099.
