UPDATE: Three sets of temporary traffic lights are out after an incident earlier this morning.

Police were notified by a traffic control coordinator at around 6.30am that three sets of temporary traffic lights covering a 30km stretch of road have been damaged and had their batteries stolen.

The lights cover three separate areas of the Thames Coast Road where the road is down to one lane due to roadworks.

Police ask motorists to drive with caution on the road until the problem is fixed.
