5.6 quake rattles the Bay

The Bay of Plenty has been rattled this afternoon by a 5.6 magnitude earthquake.

GNS Science says the quake hit within 5km of the Te Puke region around 1.35pm.


It had a focal depth of 290km.

GNS Science says they have had reports of it being felt in the Wellington region.

um yes there are reports from they bay.... unless welcome bay, greerton and tauranga arent in the bay..... I felt it, just. nothing like what Im used too though

we’re in welcome bay and felt it. went on a while but wasnt a big deal. definitely was some rattling tho

No rattling of the Bay.

This quake did not rattle the Bay. GNS have no reports of it being felt in the Bay.

Was sitting on the lounge floor folding washing and didn’t feel a thing.
