Police investigating the death of a 48-year-old motorcyclist from Katikati say they won’t release his name until next of kin have been notified.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash which involved the motorcyclist and a Toyota Surf utility vehicle 5km from Whiritoa, near Coromandel, just before 2pm on Friday.

The crash closed a section of SH25 for around four hours as the police investigated the scene and debris was removed from the road.
Sergeant Dave Litton of the Waihi Police says the Serious Crash Unit is investigating the matter to determine what caused the accident.
“It appears a motorcyclist had been riding north on SH25 towards Whangamata when he has lost control on a moderate left hand bend.”
The occupants of the Toyota Surf were not injured in the crash.
