UPDATE: Traffic delays are expected between Papamoa and Te Puke for the next three hours after two trucks collided this afternoon.

The collision, at Poplar Lane just after 2.30pm, ended with a Godfreys truck and trailer unit in a ditch on the left hand side of State Highway 2.

Acting Sergeant Rowan Scott says the Godfreys truck was travelling from Mount Maunganui to Te Puke when the smaller truck turned out of Poplar Lane.

'They have made contact and the truck and trailer has ended up in the ditch.”

Neither driver was injured in the collision, and both are being interviewed by police.

Traffic is flowing around the crash scene but speeds are reduced and motorists are advised that traffic delays are expected for the next three hours as the truck is removed from the scene.

A crane is currently at the site to remove the heavy haulage truck.
