Time for a trade-in

A man driving a Nissan car made an "aggressive attempt at a trade in" yesterday when he managed to crash the car down a bank into the Bay of Plenty Honda dealership.

The man is believed to have made a right-hand turn onto Elizabeth Street when he lost control and crashed down the bank behind the ANZ building on Wednesday afternoon.

The Nissan crashed over a retaining wall into the dealership's yard. Photos: Supplied.

'It was some pretty aggressive angle parking I'll tell you that,” says Craig Davies at the Honda dealership.

'We've never had a trade in come in that quick before. He wasn't here for a long time, the police escorted him out. He was a bit shaken up.”

St John Ambulance paramedics attended but the man was not injured.

Tauranga Police had no more information this morning.

At reverse 'angle parking' by the looks of it too... glad the driver was ok, would have been an exciting ride to say the least! Was fortunate he didn't go back any further or he might have been purchasing a few cars if he had hit them.

Isn't it illegal to make a right-hand turn out of Selwyn street. That and flooring it would make interesting reading of the insurance claim. That's of course if he has insurance. Lucky he didn't hit any of the cars on the yard.
