Fine predictions for Bay

The wet weather predicted for the Bay of Plenty this week is no longer, with the MetService now forecasting fine days in the region until Friday.

Last week the MetService reported a front moving over the North Island would bring rain to the region for most of this week.

Finer weather is being predicted for the next few days.

The forecast has now changed to cloud clearing in the morning, becoming fine with southerly winds.

MetService meteorologist Elke Louw says the low pressure that's bringing rain to the upper half of the North Island is expected to move away slowly to the east in the next few days.

'This will come as a welcome relief for many who have been affected.

'As the low starts to move away, the rain is expected to shift its focus to Gisborne and Hawke's Bay.”

Elke says conditions for the upper North Island are expected to dry out, with the winds dying away and a lot more blue sky and sunshine to be seen.

Daily highs in the Bay will remain around the 18 degree mark during the week and fall to about nine or 10 degrees overnight.

'A break in the weather is expected as we head into the middle of the week, with another area of high pressure set to cover most of the country.”
