Concert for Diane a success

A concert to raise money for Bay of Plenty woman Diane Wilson is being hailed a success by organisers.

The money raised from the event on Wednesday is yet to be tallied, but Gray Barlett says the 'concert went very well”.

Diane Wilson is continuing to improve after almost losing her life in a car accident in Australia.

'We didn't get any accommodation/meals or petrol support which was disappointing, but the artists were truly amazing and contributed to a great night,” says Gray.

Shane Cortese, Chet O'Connell, Chris Gunn, Tom Sharplin, Jodi Vaughn and members of the True Legends Touring Band helped Gray and Brendan Dugan put on a 'truly spectacular show”.

The concert was in aid of Diane Wilson, who is recovering after being critically injured in a car crash involving a drunk driver in Australia on August 31.

She was in an induced coma for about a week and has had surgery to repair her smashed pelvis and reattach her spine to the base of her skull.

Diane's father Craig says she still has a long road ahead of her but is continuing to make improvements.

Diane is described as a fighter and has already had numerous surgeries to reshape the bones in her face after she was born with Crouzon's disease, which fused the bones in her face together.

Friends of the Wilson family have set up a fundraising page through the Give a Little website to help raise money for Diane's recovery.

So far, $23,332.79 has been raised – surpassing the $500 goal.
