Spring Festival in the park

A spring extravaganza for all to enjoy is taking place in Te Puke this afternoon.

The Te Puke Community Board is celebrating the Te Puke Community Development Plan 10 years of achievements and looking for input from the community – 'on what you want to see develop in our community for the next 10”.

Jim Diers says more than 40 volunteer groups are helping to celebrate the 'amazing things they do in our communities, selling food, drinks, great bargains and demos”.

'We have Wahine Toa, Kiwicoast Lions, Te Puke Hub and Day Patrol, Te Puke Brownies and Guides, Play centre, Porse, Barbados, Plunket, Toy Library, Rural Women, Creative Te Puke Forum, Te Puke and District Highland Pipe Band, Maketu Wetlands Soc, Envirohub, Te Puke Country Music, Te Puke Toaoist Tai Chi, Karate, Te Puke Skate Facility Group, Te Puke Contract Bridge Club, Te Puke Pony Club, Te Puke Amateur radio, Rotary, Te Puke Volley Ball Team, Gym sport plus more. You may find just what you have always wanted to do with your spare time and join a club or community group.”

Jim says today is about celebrating diverse communities with all day music and dancing with a fantastic line-up of great entertainers - including Te Puke Country Music club have some top Hamilton entertainers, local Sharon Cotter - classical singer, Mike and Safari Henderson - stars in their eyes, John Espin - top of the pops, our top school acts and Indian and Nepalese dancers are also performing.

'Goodness Grows here – free kiwifruit and stalls selling avocado oils and fruit– florist, honey, avocado oil, and much more.

'Kids views count - We have Kids Art on display depicting what is great about Te Puke and also having popular people's choice - so come and vote.”

Te Puke Art Society are having an Art Exhibition at Constables gallery and Te Puke Community Garden have turned their first sod of soil.

The market day is being used as a way of engaging the township, says Jim.
