Call for patient feedback

Bay of Plenty District Health Board patients are being invited to have their say on hospital stays.

A random selection of patients in the BOPDHB district who spent at least one night in hospital from November 3 to 16 have been invited to participate in the survey developed by the Health Quality & Safety Commission.

The Bay of Plenty District Health Board is calling on people to give feedback about their hospital stay.

Patients are able to fill in the survey online, and the results will help DHBs make improvements in care and give the public valuable insights into the performance of their local health services.

BOPDHB quality and patient safety manager Debbie Brown says the survey responses are anonymous unless patients choose to supply contact details.

Responses are collated to give each DHB a rating out of 10 in four areas: coordination, partnership, communications, and physical and emotional needs.

DHBs undertook the first of these national surveys between August 26 and September 19 this year, with over 1500 responses, about a quarter of the patients contacted.

This is the second time the HQSC has run the survey, however the BOPDHB has opted to send the survey out fortnightly to gain as much information as possible going forward.

'This is so we can get regular feedback to assist with ongoing improvement,” says Debbie.

'We want to be the best DHB in regards to patient experience.”
