Rudd's moment in court

Phil Rudd's court appearance today was brief - and almost didn't happen.

The AC/DC drummer was late for his 9am appearance at the High Court in Tauranga, and Justice Brewer had called for a warrant for Phil's arrest.

'The only information I can give you, is he is not here,” said his lawyer Paul Mabey QC.

'I have spoken to him today, he knows to be here. I cannot take it any further.”

The judge ordered a warrant for Phil's arrest, leaving it to lie until 9.30am, after which police would have arrested him.

The Judge then left the court moments before Phil turned up and the hearing was re-scheduled for 9.15am.

Phil, wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, was then remanded on existing bail conditions until December 2.

The action was outside the court when Phil appeared before a large media scrum.

Instructed by his lawyer not to speak to the media, he replied 'no, but thank's for asking,” to questions.

Pursued to his car parked nearby, he briefly piggy-backed on one of his security guards before getting into the vehicle, the front of which was knee deep in media.

He then backed the black Nissan GTR out into the path of an oncoming delivery truck. The driver was forced to brake suddenly to avoid a collision.

The High Court appearance is a machinery matter, required even though the High Court charge of procuring a murder, has been withdrawn.

Justice Brewer said the other charges - threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis - are best dealt with in the District Court.

The media must be hungry for news. What a storm in a teacup!

What a bloody farce

To the list of current charges looking at the photo and commentary perhaps police should add dangerous driving .LOL

Why?

Why give this washed up, old drug user so much attention? Because he can hit a drum? For goodness sakes! If it was anyone else no one would have known about this.

Nice car Phil. You should have used the GTR launch control as you drove off.

Such negative comments on this man. I do not listen to his music and never have. All I see is a man who is unravelling from his addictions. I pray for hi that he finds sobriety like so many of us have out there.

take cameras out of the courtroom

If you are in court "charged" with a crime, you should be free from the invasive focus of cameras and video. Guilty or not someone should be able to defend themselves without the added stress of being monitored for any visible signs which may be taken as signs of guilt, stress, or misinterpreted body language. Not even found guilty yet, but placed under microscopic analysis by the media. Anyone who appears in court should be left to follow the process through in some semblance of privacy until the final judgement is made. Not fair to Phil Rudd or anyone else in a similar position. Innocent until proven guilty, or is that no longer relevant.

Trial by Media

Too much negative attention focused on him because he is famous. Leave the poor guy alone. Atrocious negative reporting and the media keep bringing up this attempting to kill charge which was dropped at his first court appearance. So destructive for him and his family. The media don't focus this amount of space on every alleged crack head that is charged. Move onto something else. These sort of things can push people over the edge.

Lets not forget his unselfish act of displaying his cars and auctioning off a drum kit to raise money for the Christchurch earthquake. Just because he is a semi-celebrity he is under a magnifying glass. I watched the media hound him on TV.

No fans?
