Summer tour for Devilskin

Bigger, better and more are the words being used to describe Devilskin's Summer Surrender tour.

One of New Zealand's top hard rock bands, Devilskin are once again hitting the roads as they tour the country, fresh off their recent We Rise tour.

Devilskin have been going from strength to strength in the last year.

Paul Martin is looking forward to playing at Brewers.

Bassist and co-founder Paul Martin says in July the band has released their We Rise album and headed straight out on tour with 17 out of 20 shows sold out.

'It was a surreal feeling to have so many sold out shows in towns we had never played in before. The response was amazing. 'The highlight for me was seeing people sing the words to our album tracks not just the singles! That just blew me away, very humbling.”

We Rise went gold in weeks, something Paul says is unheard of for a kiwi hard rock band, let alone an unsigned band.

'We got the news on tour, it was the coolest day.”

Hot on the heels of the successful We Rise tour vocalist Jennie Skulander, guitarist Nail, drummer Nic Martin and Paul will start the Surrender Summer tour on December 27 in Riwaka (Nelson).

They will play at Brewers Field in Mount Maunganui on December 31.

'The Surrender Summer tour will be a step up from our We Rise tour, bigger, better, more,” says Paul. 'Everything is stepping up, sound, lights, everything. It's fair to say the band is appropriately prepared to bring the business.”

Paul adds 'We have some awesome guests joining us too, These Four Walls, Silence The City and for the South Island shows feature Setting Fire To Stacey.”

When asked what people can expect from the show Paul says 'it's fair to say we put everything into our live show”.

'Production and performance has to be top notch as far as we are concerned. Lots of energy because the songs demand it. And of course Jennie has to be seen and heard live to be believed.”

Devilskin's success so far has inspired the band to strive harder at their craft and playing music is what they live and breathe for.

Paul says their audience has been loyal and the live shows are their way of giving something back and saying thank you personally.

Before the tour starts in December, Devilskin are writing new material and turning their focus to promoting their new video and single Fade.

Along with the video, Jennie, Paul, Nail and Nic have recently released their live album/DVD Live At The Powersation.

'We are so happy with the quality of the footage and the sound is in 5.1 surround so it really captures the vibe of the room that night. It was such an awesome night and we are stoked with the way it's been captured on the DVD, it looks spectacular.”

Paul says they are also working on their profile in the US, UK, Europe and Japan at the moment and getting some really positive feedback.

'That will be the next logical step for us, to tour extensively overseas,” adds Paul.

'Devilskin is a band built on our passion for music and the love of writing songs and performing. We are so grateful for the amazing support we have had for our album, singles, videos and our live shows.

'The NZ public have been amazing to us and we intend to repay the favour on this summer tour. Look out, it's going to go off.”

SunLive has a double pass to the show to giveaway.
