Revving up the gears for 2015

It's going to be an exciting end to 2014 and a roaring start to 2015 at the Baypark Family Speedway as the excitement moves up a gear in the New Year.

Speedway fans will be treated to an action-packed final race meeting for 2014, with the Burger King Super Saloon Car Series inviting New Zealand's top saloon car drivers to the track on tonight.

Speedway promoter Bernie Gillon says there'll be all the usual thrills and spills with a big field of cars taking to the track.

'There's about 30 super saloon cars in the race. We'll also have all of the best sprint car drivers from around the country race in the South Pacific Sprint Car Championship.”

The new, entry-level Six Shooter Sprint Cars will also be joining the action.

'They're the new entry level class of sprint car racing at speedway and it's really catching on and provide a lot of really good racing,” says Bernie.

Racing into 2015, the super saloons will be back again seeking revenge in the South Pacific Super Saloon Car Championship on January 3.

Bernie's also excited for the Midget Shoot Out on January 5, when he says a large number of midget car drivers from the USA will be at Baypark Speedway for the first time.

'We're fortunate enough to have some of America's top midget drivers coming and racing at Baypark.”

Stretch and speedy, the speedway clowns, will be back at the track from tonight, with event-goers invited to fill their bellies with a buffet meal and entertain the little ones in the supervised children's zone with a bouncy castle and face painting.
