Plea for six-year-old's stolen bike

A family visiting Tauranga at the weekend have been left disappointed after their six-year-old boy's motorbike was stolen.

Krista Nicol was staying at 850 Cameron Motel while her partner was taking part in the D1NZ National Drifting Championships at Baypark.

CCTV footage of the two men accused of taking the bike.

She says her son's two-wheeler Suzuki 70cc, valued at $2500, was stolen by two people captured on the motel's CCTV footage.

'It's brand new, and has no marks or anything,” says Krista. 'As we are not locals, it's hard to keep a look out for it.” Krista is disappointed that someone would take a six-year-old's bike.

'We would love it back,” she adds.

Police have been notified and Krista hopes someone in Tauranga or the wider Bay of Plenty knows something about the bike or who may have taken it.

'The bike had only been used once,” she says.

'We took it to the drift event to get around the pits faster.”

People with information about the bike can contact Tauranga Police Station on: 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers line on: 0800 555 111.

The bike stolen is similar to the one pictured above.
