13 more acts for Sundaise Festival

The Sundaise Festival organisers keep rolling out the good news, with 13 more additions to the line-up being announced this month.

Overflowing with music, arts, culture, and environmental sustainability, Sundaise is one of the biggest highlights of the New Zealand summer festival calendar and takes place March 6-8.

Added to the bill are: Antix, Amandamania, AceTones, Mr. Whale, Rivers & The Northwind, Caron Clay & Beccy Dove, Huia and The Retro Poets, The Soul Revolution, Anna Schroeder, Benny Coles, Vinylbiscuit, All Hail the Funkillers and Waikino School.

They'll join headliners Trinity Roots and 34 other acts already announced which include Opiuo, Chocolate Strings, Tali, Soul Revolution, Knights of the Dub Table, Sorceress and Swamp Thing.

But don't get too settled, because in February there are more acts to be announced.

Sundaise will also feature a strong contingent of local artists, groups and emerging acts, spread across the festival's four unique stages.

Festival director Rachael Stanway says for a more intimate setting, festivalgoers will also have the bohemian flair of ‘The Rogue Stage' all the way from Rotorua.

'Here you'll be treated to acoustic sets of live performances and spoken word, surrounded by the native forest,” says Rachael.

'Or you can race off to The Red Lounge, which is specially catered for those who don't want to stop, and party until dawn with some of our best DJs and producers like R.I.A and Isaac Aesili.”

Sundaise is promising a completely scrumptious visual feast, with the festival featuring colourful installations, impromptu performers, lighting displays and projections over the three days.

And if you're needing a break from the crowds there's also plenty on offer to keep you entertained, says Rachael.

She adds: 'You can attend any of the free workshops running through the day, take a dip in the fresh water river or join your young'uns in the exciting Kids Zone with story-telling, puppetry and face painting.”

The cherry on top? Sundaise has a huge commitment to environmental sustainability and was recently a finalist in the New Zealand National Sustainability Network Business Awards.

The 2014 festival saw only one wheelie bin full of waste with 1250 people on site, and this year the aim is to increase the numbers and reduce this amount.

The festival's organising team are looking to further reduce its impact on the land and environment this March.

Tickets are limited to only 1000 people and you will kick yourself if you miss this festival.

The 2015 Sundaise Festival is on at Dickey Flat in Waihi from March 6-8.

Sundaise offers free camping on site and the event is BYO alcohol. No glass allowed.

Tickets cost $169 for adults, $40 for youths (13-17 years old), $10 for children (5-12 years old) and $378 for a family (2 x adults & 3 x child/youth). Entry is free for children under five.
