Whatawhata cash victim named

Waikato Police investigating the death of a woman in hospital who was injured in a road crash at the start of the year say the matter is not being considered a road death and their investigation is on behalf of the Coroner.

District Road Policing Manager, Inspector Dana McDonald, says on behalf of NZ Police he wished to pass on condolences to the family of 54-year-old Kim FRENCH of Whatawhata who died in Waikato Hospital yesterday.

"Ms FRENCH was the driver of a Nissan car involved in a three car collision at the corner of Whatawhata and Dinsdale Roads in Hamilton on Friday 02 January.

"Seriously injured in the crash, she was taken to Waikato Hospital and had been being treated for her injuries there. The incident is still being investigated by the Serious Crash Unit and I am unable to comment on the cause of the crash."

Mr McDonald says a 68-year-old man died in the crash.

"Given the period of time that has elapsed since the crash occurred the matter is not being treated as a road death however this in no way lessens the tragic nature of what has occurred and we urge all road users to share the road socially."
