Anzac Day brunch on offer

Tauranga City Council is hosting a Great Anzac Day Brunch following the combined Anzac Day civic memorial service at Tauranga Domain today.

The free brunch offers a chance for the community to come together and share food, stories and togetherness on a very special day, says Mayor Stuart Crosby.

'The joint civic memorial service is a strong reminder of the importance of community and a day to stand together,” says Stuart.

To recognise the 100 years of Gallipoli, Mount Maunganui and Tauranga RSAs are joining together for one combined civic service at the Tauranga Domain today, starting at 9.45am.

On offer will be a free bacon butty, a cup of tea and an Anzac biscuit.

Stuart has given his thanks to Bakers Delight, First National Tauranga, The Big Smoke BBQ Co and Gilmours for helping with the Anzac Day Brunch.

'The spirit of the ANZACs was forged on those foreign battlefields many years ago – and still lives on today,” he adds. 'Lest we forget.”

Send in your Anzac Day photos: SunLive will be commemorating Anzac Day with coverage of events around the region but we'd love our readers to send in their own photos of the day. Send all Anzac Day photos to: newsroom@thesun.co.nz
