What’s on Today? Anzac

Good morning Sunners and welcome to what is a special day of remembrance in New Zealand's history.

Today marks 100 years since New Zealand and Australian soldiers landed on the beaches of Gallipoli and right across the Bay of Plenty people are commemorating those who fought for our freedom.

With dawn services out of the way our attention now turns to civic services including the combined Tauranga and Mount Maunganui Anzac Day Civic Memorial Service at Tauranga Domain from 9.45am.

This will mark the historical significance of the War Memorial Gates and the 100th Anniversary of the Anzac Cove landings.

If you're a bit peckish after an early morning rise why not head along to the Tauranga Farmers Market before checking out World War I: From Tauranga to the Trenches, opening at Classic Flyers today.

To round out the day Baypark Speedway is hosting its final meet of the year with a giant fireworks display.

The closing night will see close to $20,000 worth of pyrotechnics going up in smoke.

What's on Today? April 25.
