Quake shakes Solomon Islands

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has shaken the Solomon Islands this morning.

The quake comes a month after the area was rocked by a magnitude 7.8 event, which triggered a tsunami warning.

The latest quake at 4.27am (NZT) was offshore, southeast of Guadalcanal at a depth of 46km.

The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said the quake did not pose a tsunami risk.
