What’s On? The Extravaganza & Writing

The Extravaganza is in town for their final day today at Blake Park. Photo: Tracy Hardy.

Kia ora and morena Sunners, and welcome to your Sunday, where there's lots of ways to stay entertained.

The weather outside looks to be pleasant again today, which means those of you who missed out yesterday can still catch the Extravaganza at Blake Park.

The travelling gypsy fair is free to enter, and runs from 9am to 5pm. There are 32 trucks that form the festival market, with lots of market stalls and award-winning musicians playing throughout the day. There's plenty for kids to do as well, such as tug of war, musical bean bags, and sack races. The Ashton Family Circus will also be there, running shows at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

For creative types, why not drop in at Alzheimer's Society House, 116 13th Ave. The Tauranga Writers group is holding a special workshop on cover design as part of the ‘Year of the Authorpreneur' from 2-4pm. The entry fee is $5 (or gold coin for members). Phone 022 053 4868 or email taurangawritersnz@gmail.com for more info.

There's also an open day at Tauranga Hospital, with live demonstrations by emergency services and a chance to meet the crew of the TECT rescue helicopter – and maybe even win a flight.
