It'll be a mountain of a challenge, but Tauranga's Chloe Crump is more than up for it.

On Saturday the four-year-old who has severe asthma and bronchiectasis will be climbing to the top of Mauao as part efforts to raise both money and awareness for the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand.

The trek to the top of Mauao is the finale of a challenge set for Chloe and her family by the Beach Kidz Preschool Beach Programme which has seen them undertake a range of activities like swimming, yoga, rock hunting over the past 100 days.

'Chloe's excited, it's something she's never done before and it will be her first time up the top of the Mount,” says her mother Rachel.

'It's definitely going to be a huge challenge for her due to her asthma and bronchiectasis, which is a lung condition where her breathing tubes have been damaged.”

Rachel says her daughter is an active child generally, but Chloe's lung conditions have had an effect on her ability to participate in certain activities.

But while might slow her down, it never holds her back, and Chloe she loves getting out and getting active and doing what she can.

'It's been exciting watching Chole over these last 100 days. To be honest I'm really proud of the way she's undertaken all of the challenges, she taken them all in her stride which is really cool.”

Along with raising awareness for the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ, Chole is also attempting to raise money in order to bring a musical show about asthma to her preschool - Ark Early Childhood Centre.

Rachel says the show Sailor the Puffer Fish is part of the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ's education programme for preschools and schools.

'Bringing the show to the centre means Chloe and her friends can learn about asthma in a fun and entertaining way. Our goal is raise $300 to bring the show and its presenter Chis Lam Sam to Ark Early Childhood Centre.”

'We've also had a lot of help from the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation, they're a fantastic charity that's working hard to improve the pretty shocking respiratory statistics in New Zealand and they can't do that without help.”

Chloe plans to tackle Mauao on Saturday, May 6, and anyone who wants to show their support and scale the mountain alongside are asjked to dress in blue and meet by the Mount Surf Club at 10am.

People can also show their support for Chloe and the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ by making a donation via her Everyday Hero fundraising website at: https://give.everydayhero.com/nz/active-lungs-for-chloe-the-100-day-challenge
