What’s On? Burpees

Morena and good morning Sunners, welcome to a blustery ol' Saturday and the start of the weekend.

MetService forecasts a few showers, then brief rain around midday, but becoming fine in the afternoon, so hopefully it's good weather for the SPEE Training's One Kilometre Burpee Challenge at Mount Maunganui main beach.

Fitness will push themselves to the limit all for a great cause this morning during SPEE Training's One Kilometre Burpee Challenge which kicks off at the Mount Surf Club at 8am.

About 50 people will see if they have the mettle to complete the gruelling challenge in a bid to raise money for charities dealing with domestic violence and youth homelessness.

Starting at the surf club, participants will burpee their way to Moturiki/Leisure Island – a distance of roughly 500m, before turning around and heading back up the beach.

SPEE Training co-owner Vainita Spee says a kilometre roughly equates to 750 burpees for one person, so most will be tackling it as teams.

The one kilometre burpee challenge starts at 8am, Saturday, May 20, at the Mount Maunganui Surf Club.To see more events taking place today check out SunLive's full What's On listing below:
