Random act of vandalism

A Tauranga resident is feeling 'powerless and violated” after someone tipped several litres of white paint over her car.

Bronwyn Te Moananui woke up this morning to find that her car, which was parked up her driveway on Crescent Road, had been covered with what is believed to be more than 20 litres of white paint.

The Otumoetai resident says she has no gang connections or issues with family, friends or work colleges and is disgusted that someone would do this.

'I take the kids to and from school, do all the usual boring things the rest of the world is doing, and something like this happens,” she says.

'I know it's just a car and it'll be fixed or replaced, but I'm left wondering what the hell is wrong with people.”

Police have been notified and an insurance claim has been lodged, but Bronwyn will be without a car for some time.

'My car will need a new paint job, which will take weeks, so we have no transport to go to work or to take the kids to and from school, until we can get either a courtesy car from whoever does the job or a rental car if the insurance company will pay for that.”

She says she knows she can't do anything about it now, but feels that the public should know that there is someone out there vandalising cars.

Feel your pain

Posted on 02-09-2017 09:00 | By About that

What mongrels. Hope they get caught. Not body has the right to damage or destroy somebody elses pride and joy. I feel your pain. i was following a red Hilux down eastern link on the way to work when i noticed white spots appearing all over the windscreen. It was white paint dripping out the tail gate of the Hilux in front of me. Needless to say, my Black Audi S4 worth around 100k was covered in the crap. luckily it was water based and got it off in 5 minutes. I feel sorry for you and hope the cops get them.

The epitome of cowardice

Probably a snitch of some kind or other and not the intestinal fortitude to front up face to face and discuss it, so they take the cowards option of hit and run. We even see examples of it on these threads sometimes - there's a lot of it around! Methylated spirits should get it off with a bit of elbow grease, or if the car was previously waxed it might just peel off with a bit of luck.

This is sickening and I feel sorry for you and your inconvenience. There are such morons out there.

Doesn't look random?

If you don't have enemies,I'm assuming it's a case of mistaken identity. Looks premeditated if you ask me

When you admitted on a previous story of doing things in your youth that you weren't proud of - was it this kind of stuff? They, like you did, probably think it's funny or no big deal but it is devastating for the victim. Personally I've never had any contact with the Police all my life, not even a parking ticket, so I don't know how people like this can live with themselves. I suppose they justify it in some way, like thinking everybody is like it, or belittling the extent of the effects. Easy to do when you're the perpetrator, not the victim. They are scum.

I reckon you are spot-on with your assessment. Bronwyn has an enemy alright, and that makes it easier for police to investigate. Hopefully with success. It's easy to make enemies these days due to the number of psychopaths around, and even on this forum where there are some strong personalities it can happen. Fortunately none of us are anonymous even though we might think we are, as there are a number of ways investigators can track back through ISP's. It was a nasty incident eh! Watch that space!

Methylated Spirits and a bit of elbow grease? Really? Did that work for you when several litres of paint was poured over your vehicle? Not one of your better commentaries Papamoaner.

What previous story are you talking about??? Sure I did stupid stuff when I was younger but nothing like this asshole tipping paint over my car causing thousands of dollars worth of damage. This person is screwed in the head and obviously needs help and who is spot on with their assessment that I have an enemy? Get a life will you?

OK, I'll take that on the chin. You might be right! I was just thinking that it is probably acrylic paint, which doesn't always stick well, especially if the surface was waxed or dirty. Look how easily it pulls off the inside of a plastic Resene pail when you want to re-use the bucket. Hopefully she has insurance, but it will still cost her the excess. Acrylic is not completely solventless either - meths, being water soluable, rubs it off quite well in tight places, but you'd need plenty of it. Lucky it was only paint - some other compounds could have written the car off. Fortunately a criminal with no brain saved the day.

@Bgt1 - Sorry.

I apologise to you for inadvertently becoming part of the conversation that offended you. I was expressing sympathy with you and your situation, and that was genuine. This uncouth bully Bover-Boy called Maildrop does that regularly - drags his grudges across from thread to thread without subtlety and with no consideration for other people's feelings. Psychopaths select their victims almost exclusively on body language. My writing style (body language equivalent) is admittedly sometimes bumptious and condescending, and it unfortunately attracts Maildrop's type like a magnet. He also harbours hatred against Morepork for similar reasons, hence the mention of Morepork's name also. I sincerely hope your beautiful car (Falcon?) can be restored back to original, and best of luck.

It was a story about Metiria Turei and her criminality - Papamoaner/Morepork/various expressed empathy as he had "done things he wasn't proud of". People like that like to trivialise their crimes. I have 100% sympathy for the victim, as I said in my comment. Yes, he is a condescending hypocrite and certainly does attract my type. I will continue to haunt him but it in no way detracts from sincere hatred of people who do this type of thing, or other "things they are not proud of". I think my original comment stands on its merits. This other fakester makes comments like that all the time. He knows full well it was ridiculous and was only said to rile you. It's his game. His apology is fake. Nearly everything he says is fake.
