Traffic delays following cyclist crash

Emergency services are at the scene of a crash in Tauriko.

A police media spokeswoman says that a call was received by Police about a collision between a car and a cyclist at Taurikura Drive in Tauriko.

"Police were called at 12.10 and attended the scene," she says.

"The cyclist has serious injuries."

"Fire service and ambulance are also at the scene."

Earlier:

Traffic is backed up on Route P as emergency services deal with a crash.

A witness stuck in the traffic says a car and cyclist have crashed at the intersection of Lakes Boulevard and Takitimu Drive, near the roundabout.

Firefighters are at the scene.

Police and paramedics have also been called.

Are you for real?? Someone doesn't look where they're going, runs a cyclist over and its the cyclists fault? Logical..

How about, instead of suggesting banning cyclists, people actually abide by the rules of the road and the law. The driver has been charged with reckless driving so it's quite clear who was in the wrong.
