Baby avoids injury in crash

A 10-month-old baby has escaped injury after a two car crash on State Highway 2 in Bethlehem.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says a call was received about the crash on the SH2 roundabout in Bethlehem at 7.18pm.

'One vehicle has failed to give way and clipped the other vehicle at low speed, the second vehicle ended up spun and flipped onto its roof.

'Two adult passengers and a 10-month-old baby were in the vehicle that flipped, but fortunately there were no injuries to them.”

Later that night, police also attended the scene of a one-car crash in Aongatete.

'A call come in at 9.37pm about a light truck hitting a power pole near Thompsons Track Road.

'There were two children in the truck at the time, they were taken to Tauranga Hospital by family.

'Injuries of the passengers are unknown at this stage and the vehicle will be recovered later today.”
