Morning all, and welcome to Sunday – the penultimate day of your long weekend.
Special thanks to the trade unionists and other socialists who advocated for an eight hour working day in the 19th century, and to whom we owe our Monday off.
As we head into summer, there's more happening around this fine city. The forecast today is for cloud, with light rain until evening, so you can make your own mind up as to whether it's worth the risk going outside.
If you do, the New Zealand Belly Dance Flash Mob is an event being hosted at the Honeybee House Dance Studio at 10am.
The event is a part of a series of workshops, performances, 'fun” shops and mini classes being held over the next six months throughout New Zealand to help raise funds for Women's Refuge.
At the end of the six months, the events will cumulate in a National New Zealand Belly Dance Flash Mob day.
Locals can bring their koha on the day, or make a donation via the Everyday Hero website. For more information contact one of the team through Facebook or the Art of Movement website.
This morning three Australasian authors will be discussing intersections in the written arts of Australia and New Zealand, as part of the Tauranga Arts Festival.
At 10am, an Australian (Kate Grenville), a Kiwi living in Australia (Stephen Daisley) and a New Zealander who has written both here and overseas (Catherine Chidgey) will be discussing their work at Carrus Crystal Palace. Tickets are $20, and are available here.
There's plenty of other events on today. Check them out below:
