Key Tauranga roundabout to be resurfaced

Elizabeth Street access to Takitimu drive will be closed on Sunday night.

The roundabout at Elisabeth Street and Takitimu Drive is being resurfaced next week and the NZ Transport Agency is saying extra care will be required.

The work is expected to be carried out from 7pm until 6am Sunday November 12, Monday and Tuesday nights, weather permitting.

Elizabeth Street will be closed between Cameron Road and Takitimu Drive during this time. Detours will be in place and people should take extra care.

Takitimu Drive will remain open, but the number of westbound lanes will be reduced so people can expect some delays.

Also, the State Highway resurfacing programme will start on State Highways around Tauranga from Monday November 13, weather permitting.

Drivers are likely to encounter speed restrictions and other traffic management which may cause delays.

People should get in the habit of allowing extra time for their journeys, says the Transport Agency.

Road users can get information on road works and detours in the region they are in, or travelling to by checking www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic, or by calling 0800 444 449 or following the Transport Agency on Facebook or Twitter.

heres an idea best time to do the resurfacing is around that 7.30-9am then maybe again in the arvo say 3.30-5pm . also best to have maybe 15-20 people on it 5 working and the other 10 or so telling and watching them

Timing is perfect.

The time they're doing it is the least disruptive. They've finally worked that out after the Te Puna debacle!
