Bureta raid linked to man's death

Police have executed search warrants in Bureta this morning as they continue to investigate the death of a Tauranga man.

The man was dropped at Tauranga Hospital around 12.20pm yesterday, with critical injuries.

He died a short time later.

Since the man's death, police have carried out raids at Wilrose Place in Gate Pa and an address in Bureta.

Detective Inspector Lewis Warner says as a result of this morning's enquiries, a man is now assisting police with their investigation.

"Police are confident there is no further risk to the public."

Members of the public have contacted SunLive this morning saying they heard loud bangs when police raided the property this morning.

Police are yet to confirm what these bangs were.
