Art in the Park is a popular feature that is part of the weekend activities at the Mount.

Organised by the Tauranga Society of Artists it is held twice a month in the summer and once a month in the winter in Coronation Park.

Paintings on display from many artists are viewed by hundreds of cruise ship passengers and other visitors to the township.

Nancy Frazer and Liz Cross think Art in the Park has been going for over 20 years.

'I've been coming here more than ten years,” says Nancy who paints with acrylics.

'During the long weekend periods a lot of out-of-towners and locals buy our work.”

'I enjoy the camaraderie with other artists,” says Liz who uses acrylics. 'And its a fantastic chance to try and sell at Coronation Park.”
The artists also exhibit on The Strand every second and fourth Sunday of the month.

'The Strand dates can depend on if Council have other events planned,” says Liz.

'Usually second and fourth Sunday, weather permitting.”
