Scooter death crash inquiries continue

A woman died after being hit on Ninth Ave, at the intersection of Cameron Road, yesterday.

As inquires surrounding the death of a woman who was hit on her mobility scooter in Tauranga continue.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says the investigation surrounding the woman's death is ongoing.

The incident happened on Ninth Avenue at about 12.30pm on Thursday.

“We can confirm the identity of the woman has been established, however her name will not be released until we contact all next of kin.

“Investigations continue and we are working to establish the circumstances of this accident.”

Meanwhile, police are investigating a crash in Katikati.

A reporter at the scene says two vehicles have crashed, 200m south of Countdown.

There appears to be no injuries and police are speaking with witnesses at the scene.
