Motorcyclist in crash on SH2

UPDATED 11.55AM: A motorcyclist has been taken to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries after crashing on State Highway 2.

A police spokesperson says a tow truck has also been called to remove the bike from the scene.

The road is clear in both directions to traffic.


Emergency services are responding after a motorcyclist crashed on State Highway 2, Aongatete.

The accident happened at around 9.30am, at the intersection of Morton Road and State Highway 2.

A police spokesperson says only one vehicle was involved, with the motorcyclist being treated by ambulance staff for 'serious injuries'.

A caller to the SunLive newsroom who drove past says several cars and motorcycles were stopped in the northbound lane, which she says might be blocked now.
