Changes to Mount bus timetables

Traffic congestion in Tauranga and the Mount has forced all Schoolhopper timetables to change. File Photo.

Increased traffic congestion around Bayfair has resulted in some Schoolhopper services arriving late at Mount Maunganui Intermediate and Mount Maunganui College.

To fix this problem Baybus have made alterations to some routes and timings beginning Monday, February 26.

This is the second change to Schoolhopper services this year, with Welcome Bay's increased congestion also forcing change to the timetable this week.

The decision was made after many parents complained to Baybus that students were spending over an hour on the school bus and still late to school.

On a Welcome Bay Facebook page one parent said their daughter was waiting at the normal time of 7.15am for the Schoolhopper to arrive and it showed up 45 minutes late.

The Mount Maunganui changes to routes include: 307, 309, 311, 313, 315 and 317.

For more information on the route and timing changes go to: www.baybus.co.nz/media/1470/schoolhopper-route-changes-26-february-2018.pdf

The Welcome Bay time changes are:

  • 401 to Aquinas College – currently starts at 7.35am, will start 20 minutes earlier

Dedicated school buses need to be brought back. It's not rocket science, just money-grabbing by the previous government as per usual. ANOTHER problem for our new government to fix.
