One person has been taken to Tauranga Hospital following a serious assault this morning.

Emergency services were called to a property in Mansels Road at 6.15am.

A police spokesperson says they received reports of a serious assault and a breach of the peace.

"St John paramedics were also called to the scene."

The spokesperson says a man and a woman are believed to be involved in the assault.

Officers are in the middle of investigating what has happened.
