Man threatens Work and Income staff

Police have spoken to a man who threatened staff of the Rotorua Work and Income office.

The man made threats to the office by phoning the call centre, says Bay of Plenty Senior Sergeant William Fisher.

The incident happened just after 1pm on Thursday.

"Staff took the threats seriously and locked down the office for a couple of hours. That was in case he decided to leave his house."

Police located the man's house and spoke with him.

It's not known if the man will face charges.
