Two Greerton teams along with Te Puke and a Cadets side, will fight out the Western Bay of Plenty cricket championships at Blake Park, Mount Maunganui this Saturday, after winning through in semi-final action over the weekend.

Cadets, who finished as top qualifier in the Reserve Grade title race, squared off in Sunday's semi-finals with Te Puke, who finished in a three way tie for fourth and sneaked through courtesy of a superior run-rate.

Cadets batted first at home base at the Tauranga Domain and set their opponents a solid target after being bowled out for 209. Led by an unbeaten century from Daniel Price (109no), Te Puke got through to the Reserve Grade Championship title decider with four wickets to spare.

Te Puke will meet Greerton Sikh XI who defeated Katikati by 81 runs at Pemberton Park. The home side took first use of the wicket and were bowled out for 169. Lovely Sandhu led the way for the home side with 75 runs, with Jamie Payton in good form with ball taking four wickets for 24 runs. Deepu Singh ripped through the Katikati reply grabbing six wickets as they were bundled out for 88, with LS Bhatti taking three wickets with his bullets.

Cadets Punjab Warriors and Greerton, confirmed their status as the top two sides in the B Grade Championship, when they won through to meet in the title decider. Top qualifier Punjab Warriors took out a short and sharp encounter against Albion, after bowling them out for 81 and getting home with eight wickets in hand. Jasper Bhuller did plenty of damage, returning bowling figures of five wickets at a cost of 30 runs.

The Greerton bowlers took control of their match-up against Wanderers, with the Pemberton Park based team taking out a 46 run victory. Greerton batted first and were removed for 148 with Matt Short top scoring with a crisp 48. Neri Hutchings and Ryan Foord took three wickets apiece. Matt Short backed up his batting exploits with bowling figures, of three for 21, with Danny Pokai also in good touch with two wickets as Wanderers were dismissed for 102.

Two Greerton centuries took centre stage in the last qualifying round of the Reserve Grade competition on Saturday. Sikh XI batsman Lovely Sandhu hit a neat one hundred runs, in his teams winning draw with Tauranga Boys College. Long-time Greerton Cricket Club player Richie Earl, was also in grand touch with the bat blasting the weekend highest score of 123 not out, in his side's victory over the Albion Singh XI.
