The first of six open days to familiarise the community with the Long Term Plan proposals is being held at the Welcome Bay Community Hall tonight.

The session is from 4pm until 7pm, and is a chance for residents and ratepayers to talk to councillors and council staff about the proposals in the Long Term Plan, says Mayor Greg Brownless.

'We're asking a lot of big questions in our LTP – questions that affect all residents and ratepayers across the city,” says Greg.

'We're really keen to hear the community's feedback, and these open days will help people to make well-informed submissions based on a sound understanding of our proposals.”

The Council is seeking community feedback on:

  • rating structure changes;
  • finding the right level of investment in public transport and roading;
  • waste and recycling options;
  • museum and library proposals;
  • elder housing provision;
  • funding for the tourism sector; and
  • tsunami alerts and resilience.

The consultation document outlines all these topics, as well as other items the Council is consulting on and other issues that may affect the plan over the next 10 years.

More information, including the consultation document, submission forms and a rates calculator, is on Council's LTP webpage: www.goodquestion.nz

Residents can also pick up a copy of the consultation document in the Customer Service Centre or any library, or request a copy by calling 07 577 7000.

The next open day is scheduled for the Papamoa Community Centre, Tuesday, 27 March, 15 Gravatt Road, Papamoa.

The others are:

  • Baycourt X Space, Tuesday, 3 April, 38 Durham Street, Tauranga
  • Bethlehem Hall, Wednesday, 4 April, 239 SH2, Bethlehem
  • Greerton Community Hall, Friday, 6 April, 1263 Cameron Road, Greerton
  • Bay Oval Lounge, Tuesday, 10 April, Blake Park, Kawaka Street, Mount Maunganu

Incompetent TCC

Some of us live in the real world and have one or more jobs so are not able to attend the above mentioned propaganda. The incompetent TCC will then say that there was a small turnout and the massive rates rise was generally agreed to.
