UPDATED 5.30PM: A woman has been taken to Tauranga Hospital with moderate injuries after a motor vehicle accident on Cameron Road.

Emergency services responded to the accident outside Tauranga Hospital earlier this afternoon.

Police were also at the scene.

EARLIER:

A caller to the SunLive newsroom says a scooter and a van have collided on Cameron Road, just past the 18th Ave traffic lights.

She says the accident occurred at around 2.45pm.

"My daughter was helping first aid until the ambulance arrived."

The caller was unsure if anyone had been injured.

She says traffic has started to gather in the area, and the lane heading towards Greerton is partially blocked.
