Multiple crashes in Western Bay

UPDATED 1.49PM: Police are investigating two crashes involving trucks in the Western Bay of Plenty this afternoon.

Both crashes were reported around 12.30pm.

A police spokesperson says one crash is on Te Puke Highway.

'There has been a collision between two trucks.

'One patient with moderate injuries. Police and ambulance currently attending.” The second crash is located on SH2, near Benner Road.

'We are attending a crash involving a car and a truck.

'Road workers are managing traffic. Police and ambulance are currently attending.

'No diversions are required for either - road workers in the area are managing traffic.”

EARLIER:

Reports are coming in of two crashes east of Te Puke.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says two trucks have crashed on SH33 near Maketu.

Another caller says there is another crash on SH2 near Benner Road.

Emergency services have been called.
