Waka stolen in Bay of Plenty

One of the stolen waka.

Police are seeking any information in relation to the theft of two waka.

The waka were taken from Ngati Manawa Road, Murupara.

'The theft occurred between 10am on April 15 and 4.30pm on April 18,” says a post on the Bay of Plenty Police and Taupo Facebook page.

'The Rangiatea 1 and Rangiatea 2 are both white fibreglass hulls and both sit on a bright red trailer.

'Both canoes are six seater and have their outriggers, the ama, sitting inside of them. They are about 17 feet long and bear the manufactory logo Maui Kanu.”

One canoe has black tape wound at the stern. If you have any information you can contact Rotorua Police on 07 349 9554 quoting the file number 180418/9718, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

I'm sorry to say it but that sort of crap is neither informed or helpful. Wild assumptions that are designed to do nothing but stir up needless rhetoric. You're better than that. These people like many others have suffered a theft which is always upsetting and it matters not the race/colour or creed of victim or perpetrator, theft is theft and is distressing so have a heart.

You are a cynic.............and that's a good thing!. But really...GONE? How can a couple of Waka go missing, let alone STAY missing. The market for these must be extremely small. What sort of criminal steals a bloody waka? let alone two . Moronic!
