It is election time again for the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust and the Trust has again appointed Warwick Lampp as its independent returning officer to manage the process.
The Trust is administered by six trustees, with three trustees retiring by rotation every two years.
The three retiring trustees this year are Peter Blackwell, Ron Scott and Paul Tustin, who can stand again if they wish.
Nomination packs are available from the Trust office, Ground Floor, The Hub, 525 Cameron Rd, Tauranga - ph (07) 578 5094, or from electionz.com on free phone 0800 666 029.
Candidates have until 12pm on Friday June 1 to submit their nominations. Candidates have to be TECT consumers and must be nominated by two separate TECT consumers. Each candidate is required to provide a profile statement of 150 words or less and a recent photo.
Warwick will also host a candidate information meeting at the TECT office, on Tuesday May 15 at 7pm. This presentation will explain how the election process works, what is involved in completing the nomination documents, and general information about being a TECT trustee.
If more than three nominations are received an election will be carried out by postal and internet voting. Voting papers will be mailed out to around 52,000 eligible voters from June 25. The election closes on Friday July 20, with election results being released after midday.
Any queries about the election of trustees or eligibility to vote can be made to the election helpline on 0800 666 029.

stand by their election statements, this time around, after at least three made major changes from what they stated in the recent TECT fiasco, when "save the cheque" transformed into "take the cheque away from the consumers"! I know many will, like myself, be paying VERY careful attention to any statements made, this time around!

of those retiring Trustees if they stand again. They were part of that debacle of trying to get rid of our cheque. Mores the pity the rest of the trustees weren,t retiring.Let,s hope we get sufficient nominees to get rid of these three.
