Mini-twister leaves trail of destruction

Fences have been blown over, trampolines sent flying and a garage has been destroyed after a mini-tornado tore through Pyes Pa this afternoon.

Kevin and Gaye Brooker, who live on Pyes Pa Rd, got a surprise as a mini twister sent their guttering flying along with their shed and trampoline.

"We were just sitting there and saw our table fly past the window," says Gaye.

"It was quite a shock."

The force of the wind was so severe it threw a brand new garden shed over their fence and into the roof of a nearby retirement village.

"It just picked it up and took it away."

Their grandson's trampoline was also picked up and dumped onto the lawn broken.

Next door to the Brooker's, a wooden shed was buckled by the wind.

"It's a bit of a shock really but we're all fine."

A reporter at the scene says he saw fire engine traveling in the opposite direction as I was approaching the roundabout at the end of Cameron Rd.

He says there are fences down and surface flooding in the area.

The roof of a house has also buckled.
