Bird calling training today

Bird calling identification training is travelling to Katikati this weekend due to popular demand.

At the Katikati Community Centre on Beach Road today from 2pm to 4pm, knowledgeable bird expert Paul Cuming from Western Bay Wildlife Trust will take people through an audio experience teaching people how to identify local birds from their songs.

New Zealand birds are notoriously hard to see in the bush and even on open ground. This is why listening to birdsong is an important part of any bird study.

The session aims to cover the most commonly observed birds in the Bay of Plenty, but will also answer tricky questions. The outcomes of the course will mean that attendees will be more familiar with the birds and their calls surrounding the habitats that residents of the Western Bay of Plenty work and play in.
