To celebrate its 50th anniversary Fieldays is on a road trip around New Zealand in the lead-up to the four-day event at Mystery Creek near Hamilton starting on Wednesday, June 13.

The road trip finishes in Te Puke on Saturday, June 9 at the Te Puke Sport and Recreation Club from noon to 2pm.

The event will feature a sausage sizzle, coffee, family-friendly activities and games, and will be hosted by Jamie Mackay from Newstalk ZB's ‘The Country'.

Doug Avery, farmer and author of ‘The Resilient Farmer' will also be speaking.

People are encouraged to come along and talk about their Fieldays memories, where farming has come over the past 50 years, and where it's heading in the future. There will also be an opportunity to sign a huge 50th birthday card.

There will be more than 1440 sites and 1000-plus exhibitors at Fieldays 2018.

This year's theme is ‘the future of farming' and will examine agricultural trends and ideas for the future while celebrating the wide-ranging contributions Fieldays has made to the agricultural industry since its inception in 1968.

A record 133,588 people visited Fieldays in 2017 – its highest visitor numbers yet.
