Air New Zealand is raising international airfares by up to 5 per cent to cope with rising fuel and other costs.

The price rise will take effect on Thursday and comes a month after the airline raised domestic fares.

Ticket prices to the United States would rise by about three per cent, with some services costing up to $100 more.

Fares across the Tasman and around the Pacific were expected to rise by about five per cent, depending on destinations.

The airline would also have a surcharge on some routes on certain days of the week to persuade people to fly on less busy days.

Air New Zealand said it needed to raise fares because of rising fuel costs, which have surged over the past year.

I don't remember prices being dropped when fuel was 20% cheaper? Most overpriced and overrated airline.

Yep.

Of course they are going to rip us, there is no one to stop them.. Corporate greed at its best.. Oil price goes up, fuel price goes up, oil price comes down, fuel price stays up. Our dollar comes down , fuel price goes up, our dollar comes up and fuel price stays up. Capitalism..!!

Not acceptable!

I've had 3 recent dpmestic flights cancelled - no refund, had to go in an old bus instead that they provided. Improve service before fares!
