Te Puke man killed on Takitimu Drive

The road was closed for several hours while police investigated the crash scene.

The man who died after being hit by a truck on Takitimu Drive earlier this week was from Te Puke.

Forty-one-year-old Glenn Andrew Mcrae died when he was hit by a truck while walking around the expressway, near the 15th Ave overpass, on Tuesday morning.

Police received the call just before 4.30am.

A police spokesperson says he was walking towards the Cameron Road side when the crash happened.

The highway was closed for several hours, while the serious crash investigation unit examined the scene.

It was re-opened around 11am.
